ABOUT NKIRU ASIKA

CEO of OutSource Media is Nkiru Asika, a communications all-rounder whose career spans publishing, journalism, television, event management and marketing communications.  She also holds outstanding academic qualifications : M.A. Hons (Modern History) from Oxford University, Post Graduate Diploma in Publishing & Printing from the London College of Communication (University of the Arts) and M.A. Magazine Journalism from Syracuse University (USA).

Nkiru has recently started the Protocol School of West Africa, a specialist training organization providing world-class programs in corporate and business etiquette, international protocol and communications. The Protocol School of West Africa is a division of OutSource Media.

Nkiru is also an Executive Director Storm 360, Nigeria’s leading media and entertainment company. As such, she helps to shape the strategic vision of the company and has produced television programmes of various genres including reality, documentary, music/lifestyle, advert and educational programming.  Her TV production credits include:  Co-Producer, The Players pilot (2004); Line Producer, Amstel Malta Box Office (2005); Line Producer, Big Brother Nigeria (2006); Producer & Writer, Heart of Africa advert (2006); Producer, The Scoop (2007); Producer, Teacher’s TV, ILN Programming (2007); Producer, 100% Naija (2007 and 2010); Development Producer, All That Glitters (2007/8); Series Producer, The Apprentice Africa (2008); Co-Executive Producer, Dragons Den (2008); Producer, Calabar Rocks! Nkiru is also an accomplished journalist, who has been published in more than 20 newspapers and magazines in the U.S.  She spent 5 years as a writer and columnist with SmartMoney Magazine, The Wall Street Journal’s Magazine for Personal Business, and in 2003, she was honoured with an award for Outstanding Writing by the National Press Club of America.  In addition, Nkiru has been a personal finance columnist for The Guardian Newspapers and a member of the Media Strategy Group of Daily Times Newspaper during its relaunch in 2004. In 2005 Nkiru was invited by then Minister of Information Chief Chukwuemeka Chikelu to join a panel of eminent Nigerians on the Editorial Board of Nigeria Monthly magazine. She has also been hired as an editorial consultant for organizations including the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the Federal Ministry of Information, PeopleTemp Ltd, and others.  Nkiru is currently a member of an elite group of journalists invited to conduct a series of historic interviews of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, to form part of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library archives.

An articulate and personable presenter, Nkiru has been invited onto major television, radio and internet networks in the USA as an on-air “expert” on personal finance matters. Networks include CNBC (New York), WCBS Radio (New York) and AOL Live Broadcasts. In Nigeria, she was anchor presenter for 8 episodes of the Interactive Learning Network (ILN) Teacher’s Television series, produced by Storm Vision.

Nkiru is also the Founder  and CEO of Enterprise Creative, a non-profit social enterprise focused on building capacity in the Nigerian creative sector. Enterprise Creative are the organizers of the acclaimed Creative Careers Fair, which held its maiden edition in 2010, bringing together more than 45 creative companies with more than 1,000 job seekers and creative professional. Nkiru has  also been  the registered Nigerian agent for the University of the Arts, London  - the leading Arts, Fashion and Design institution in the world and the Metropolitan Film School, one of the UK’s top film schools.
In her private capacity, Nkiru has served as the President, Board of Trustees of AIDS UNITE FOR LIFE, an NGO that raises awareness about HIV in secondary schools.  She is also a member of the board of the Multi-Media team of This Present House Church in Lekki, Lagos.  She is the  mother of two wonderful children, Mayowa and Seyi.
